What is EMSCULPT NEO?

EMSCULPT NEO is an FDA-cleared body sculpting and muscle-strengthening device that combines two advanced medical technologies, radiofrequency (RF) energy and high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy, to reduce fat as it builds muscle.

Because of its fat-burning potential, EMSCULPT NEO is available for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) up to 35. Other noninvasive body sculpting and nonsurgical fat removal procedures are limited to individuals with a BMI less than 30.

How does EMSCULPT NEO work?

During a 30-minute, in-office EMSCULPT NEO treatment, RF energy creates enough heat to destroy fat cells without harming the skin. At the same time, HIFEM energy triggers muscle contractions much faster than possible during a traditional workout. 

HIFEM energy produces about 24,000 contractions per treatment, activating all the muscles in the target area simultaneously. This action strengthens muscle fibers and prompts the release of lactic acid and other natural substances that, in tandem with RF energy, help break down subcutaneous fat.

Individual results may vary. However, on average, you can expect a fat reduction of 30% and a 25% increase in muscle growth. Dr. Chastanet recommends four 30-minute sessions spaced one week apart for optimal results. 

What happens during and after an EMSCULPT NEO treatment?

You can rely on our Chesapeake Weight Loss & Aesthetics team to explain the procedure in detail before scheduling your treatment. Generally, however, you lie on a comfortable exam table during the treatment. 

After your provider straps the appropriate applicator(s) in place, the NEO device starts with a buildup phase followed by a muscle contracting phase and a recovery phase. Many people describe the heat produced by RF energy as similar to a hot stone massage. 

The muscle contractions are noticeable, especially during the first session, but usually well-tolerated. However, most people report some soreness the next day, much like you’d expect following a challenging workout.
